As the founders of Pax Recovery Center, we offer a message of hope and healing. We know that substance use is a powerful and destructive force, but we also know that recovery is possible.
At Pax Recovery Center, we are committed to providing compassionate evidence-based and individualized treatment to those struggling with substance use. Our team of experienced professionals is dedicated to helping our clients achieve lasting sobriety and reclaim their lives.
We believe that everyone deserves a chance at recovery, and we are committed to making our services accessible to all. We offer a variety of treatment options, including individual and group therapy, targeted case management , supporting all pathways to recovery, and aftercare support.

Anthony “Tony” LaBraney, LCSW, LCADA
Anthony W LaBraney, known as Tony to his friends, proudly holds the position of Clinical Director at Pax Recovery Center. Tony has a great deal of pride in his 14 years of sobriety.
Tony’s educational endeavors began at Jefferson Community College where he obtained an associate degree in the Human Service program. He then pursued a degree in social work at Spalding University and graduated from the University of Louisville Kent school with a MSSW specializing in drug and alcohol counseling. Tony is credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as Licensed Clinical Drug and Alcohol Counselor. His commitment to his sobriety and personal development has been integral in shaping his approach to serving those faced with the woes of substance use. He believes that healing and growth are possible for everyone and strives to empower those he works with to take control of their lives and overcome adversity.
Tony is happily married to his wife Sheila with whom he spends the bulk of his free time. Together they enjoy attending musical events, comedy shows and fishing.
Clinical Director
Meka Sylvester
Meka T. Sylvester was born and raised in Louisville, KY, graduating from Louisville Male Traditional High School in 1993. Meka earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice, graduating with Cum Laude Honors, from Lane College in Jackson, TN in 1998. On October 30, 2024, Meka was granted certification as a Temporary Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor by the Kentucky Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors.
Meka has over 27 years of Criminal Justice/Social Service experience. Meka has held various positions with Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, Louisville Metro Police Department, Kentucky State Department of Corrections, and Jefferson County Drug Court. Meka has also worked with non-profit agencies, such as The Center for Women and Families and the House of Ruth serving in recovery counselor, supervisory, advocacy, and case management roles.
Meka is newly married to Deon Sylvester and has three sons, the late AJ Sylvester, Alex Sylvester, and Jonathan Meyers, and one fur baby, a 3-year- old Pit Bull/French Bulldog Mix Dog named MiMi. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include watching sports (Meka is a HUGE baseball fan), cooking, reading, working and serving in her church, and writing.
Substance Use Counselor
Ashley Lattis
Ashley Lattis is a 41-year-old Substance Abuse Counselor at Pax Recovery Center. She is deeply committed to the principles of long-term recovery and has dedicated her career to helping others achieve it. Ashley’s professional journey began as a Peer Support Specialist and progressed to becoming a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor-Associate I. Her personal experiences with addiction and recovery have fueled her passion for this work, and she finds great purpose in assisting individuals facing similar challenges.
Outside of her professional life, she cherishes her family, which includes her husband, who is also in long-term recovery, their two daughters, and their four-month-old grandchild.
To further her impact in the recovery field, Ashley is pursuing a Master of Social Work degree with the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). This advanced credential will equip her to provide enhanced clinical support to those in need.
Substance Use Counselor
Ashlyn Kaiser
Ashlyn is a Targeted Case Manager at Pax Recovery Center, where she is committed to helping individuals navigate their recovery journey with care and compassion.
She studied psychology at the University of Louisville, gaining a strong foundation in mental health and behavioral sciences. With a deep understanding of the challenges individuals face in recovery, Ashlyn works closely with clients to connect them with essential resources, advocate for their needs, and support their overall well-being.
Originally from Baton Rouge, Ashlyn is passionate about building meaningful relationships and empowering others to overcome obstacles. She takes a client-centered approach, ensuring that each person she works with receives the personalized guidance and support they need to move forward. Ashlyn finds great fulfillment in seeing the progress and resilience of those she serves and is dedicated to making a positive impact in their lives.
